Business Development Director
The BlueCross BlueShield Association (BCBSA) is an organization that manages the BlueCross BlueShield brand, one of the most recognized brands in America and the choice of over 80 million Americans for their health care coverage.
Business Development is part of BCBSA, whose role is to put in place strategic partnerships that harness the collective purchasing power of the Blues. Strategic Capabilities focuses on developing partnerships in the technology and health processing systems.
The Director oversees and is responsible for maximizing the competitive position of the Blues through the development and expansion of business partnerships with vendors resulting in value added cost savings and market competitive opportunities to the Plans and net revenue profitability to BCBSA.
Qualifications include a graduate degree in Business or Engineering, with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing with working knowledge of negotiating and managing contracts. Demonstrated experience with quantitative analysis and familiarity with financial statements and financial analysis, the ability to generate innovative alternative problem solving approaches, and the ability to effectively direct project teams of research vendors and temporary consultants. Strong presentation skills to varied levels of audience members as well as communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on business writing. Previous experience managing a staff at the professional and administrative level is a must. Familiarity with healthcare and/or technology service providers is preferred.
